The ideal starting place for the ascent of Tverrbytthornet is Leirvassbu. Leirvassbu can be reached by road in the summer on payment of a small toll charge. In the spring this road is not cleared all the way and you will have to ski about ½ of its 13 km. An alternative route to the tedious slog recommended below is from the Tverrbytnet lake up the steep north west glacier on the north side of the mountain. This glacier route demands full glacier equipment and experience.
