Ka.1 Bygdin Fjellhotel lodge to Torfinnsbu lodge
4 hours / 15km
80m / 80m
Locked track initially and then marked path in the summer. Ski route marked with twigs in the spring.

Leave Bygdin Fjellhotel lodge and cross the bridge over the Vinsteråni River. After the bridge there is a locked gravel track which heads along the shore for some 2½ km to the semi abandoned old lodge at Bygdisheim. After Bygdisheim the lake and the view to the mountains opens up. This narrow stretch of water by the derelict lodge is called Bygdissundet is effectively a river and during the winter time the ice here can be suspect.

After the derelict lodge the summer and winter paths both follow the shoreline for the whole distance to Torfinnsbu lodge. Initially this goes along the shore through willow thickets for 3 km until you reach the Breidløypa stream. Here there is a temporary bridge in the summer which saves a wade over it. After The bride the path climbs slightly over a knoll and then descends back to the shoreline for another km when it meets the fork with the summer path and ski route Ka.2 to Valdresflya Vandrerhjem. This is the halfway point and is about 2 hours from Bygdin.

The damp and overgrown path continues for another km to the old seter of Hestevollen. During this stretch the path gets very boggy and there are numerous small streams to cross. It is sometimes easier to wander along the loose round pebbles along the shoreline especially if the water level is low.

Just after Hestevollen there is another temporary bridge to cross over a larger stream and a few hundred meters later you reach an unbridged stream which may be difficult to cross without wading if there is allot of snow melt. From here the path gets less boggy but there is still willow scrub to weave through. This continues for another 4 km as you pass under the steeper slopes of Nordre Kalveholotind and arrive at the aluminum bridge over the large Torfinnsdøla stream.

Just beyond this stream is the idyllic lodge of Torfinnsbu. This lodge is only open in the summer and not during Easter.

During the spring there is a marked ski trail which goes along the shoreline. This trail is naturally flat and providing the wind bears no influence it takes about 3 hours to complete the 15km.
