Follow the tractor track down to the east of Bjørnhollia lodge and over the bridge across the Myldinga River. After 200 metres, at Gammelseter, there is a signpost to Eldåbu cabin on a path to the south. Take this well marked path and follow it initially through scrub and as it sidles across the hillside for three km climbing up to the watershed with Steindalen.
From the watershed the path descends into Steindalen for 1½ km before reaching the first lake, Indre Vulutjønna, which is nearly one km long and passed on the east side. At the south end of this lake the path fords the stream and heads southwest for ½ km to reach the second lake Fremre Vulutjønna, which is passed on the west side. There are a few other path in this area but keep to the one that follows the west side of the lake.
At the end of the lake ford a larger stream and, then 200 metres later, a smaller stream at the north end of a little tarn. Follow the path down the east side of this smaller tarn for 200 metres stream and head south up the gentle valley between Veslhøa, 1279m, and Bågåskardshøgdin for a km to reach another flat watershed peppered with little tarns.
There are two forks to the south west on this watershed in quick succession, don't take either, but continue south on the main marked path as it sidles across the hillside on the east side of the valley for another four km. After these four km path crosses a small stream by the nation park boundary.
200 metres after this stream crossing there is a junction with a marked path to the west. Take this westerly path, which is also sign posted to Eldåbu, for ½ km as it gently descends and veers to north to reach the self-service cabin.
