Surtningssui is best climbed from Memurubu Lodge. To get to Memurubu Lodge you are spoilt with the choice of taking one of two marvellous journeys; either a boat trip on the beautiful green Gjende Lake or going over the spectacular Besseggen Ridge, a Norwegian Rites de passage. If you do not want to stay at Memurubu Lodge then there are plenty of camping opportunities in Memurudalen Valley. The higher up the valley you go the less the ascent day involves. In the spring it is possible to ski down the lake to Memurubu Lodge.
