The unmarked path starts on the north side of foot of the magnificent Hjellefossen waterfall, just south of Hjelle. Head up the steep path for a good hour until the gradient eases slightly. From here it is a further ½ hour through pine forests to the summer farm cabins of heimre Hjelledalen.
After these cabins continue gently up through the forest on the north side of the Hjelledøla river for a further 2 km until you reach another collection of summer cabins at fremre Hjelledalen. Continue up for another km until the path crosses another path at the outflow of the Øytjørn lake at the edge of the forest.
Take the now marked northern fork past the west side of Øytjørn lake to Morkaskardet saddle. From the saddle descend north through the birch forest, and then pine forest, for 3 km to reach the bridge over the Morka-Koldedøla river and Ingjerdbu cabin.
