Ursus arctos, Bear, Bjørn. 225cm.

Bear
An extremely rare migrant which was resident in Utladalen in the first half of last century. Bears are now just found in the remote coniferous forests to the east of the watershed. Very occasionally one migrates westwards.

During the summer bears prefer the higher forests and in the winter they hibernate in a cave or hole.

They eat berries, insects and carrion, but will sometimes kill large mammals, especially in the spring.

Can live for up to 35 years.
