The smallest European bird is an infequent resident around Scandinavia. Found only in the surrounding valleys, predominantly in conifer forests.
Feeds on insects, larvae and insect eggs. The nest, built by both members from mosses and spiders' webs, is basket shaped and hangs from conifer branches.
In winter it frequents deciduous forests and undergrowth.
