Plectrophenax nivalis, Snow Bunting, Snøspurv. 16cm.
A common summer visitor found from the upper edge of the moorland right up the the mountain tops.
The nest is hidden in rock crevices and is constructed of grass and moss, then feather lined.
They subsist on insects, especially flies and caddies found on snowfields. They are gregarious birds often found in small flocks.
Females are a speckled brown and sandy colour.
