Eremophila alpestris, Horned Lark, Fjellerke. 17cm.
A common, but seldom seen, summer visitor found in the alpine and tundra zones.
The nest is a grass cup built on the open ground beside a stone. They eat insects and their larvae and also seeds, shuffling along and picking them up from the ground and off low vegetation.
The horns on the head of the lark are tufts of black feathers and are more prominent in the male.
