Turdus merula, Blackbird, Svarttrost. 25cm.
A familar resident found throughout the aboreal zone but not the willow scrub zone.
They nest in trees, often using an old nest as a base. The nest is made from grass and mud by the female. They eat a wide variety of insects and worms, but prefer fruit and berries when available.
Blackbirds are quite territorial. Males are black, females a warm brown. Very rarely a partly or wholly albino one is seen.
